James W. Huston (1953-2016) was an American author of legal thrillers. Born in Waco, Texas, he served in the U.S. Navy as a flight crewman before attending the University of Texas Law School. After graduation, he practiced law for over twenty years, specializing in aviation and business law. Huston began writing in the early 1990s, and his first novel, "Balance of Power," was published in 1998. He went on to write ten more novels, including "The Price of Power," "Flash Point," and "Fallout," all of which feature lawyers, politicians, and military personnel facing high-stakes legal and political crises. Huston's books have been praised for their intricate plot twists and authentic depictions of legal and military procedure. He died in 2016 at the age of 63.
